Spokane to Seattle
The Adventure Begins
Our journey starts from Spokane along Highway 2 West to Seattle stopping overnight at Dry Falls and then over the Cascades via either Snoqualmie Pass, which has lane restrictions due to rockslides or Stevens Pass.
Dry Falls
Our first place to visit was Dry Falls, an Ice Age geological site that shows the power of water to it's best effect. The Falls are ten times larger than Niagra Falls and one and a half times taller. All that is missing is the water. This was present when at the end of the last Ice age a massive volume of water surged south creating the Spokane panhandle and poured over the land. The falls actually commenced some 20 miles downstream of the present site and were cut back by erosion to the present position. Well worth a visit. (See Photographs)

South to Stevens Pass
Having heard that there were still problems with Snoqualmie Pass we went over Stevens Pass, a very beautifully and picturesque route via Leavenworth, a mock Bavarian village. (See Photographs)

Seattle
Once over the Pass we hit Seattle's worst aspect, it's traffic and Interstate 5. After some problems we negotiated our way to Costco Superstore in the heart of Seattle. From here we explored Seattle on Saturday and stayed two nights. Noisy being next to the railway shunting yards but it was free. It was only a three mile bike ride along 4th Avenue straight into the heart of Seattle. It was a little foggy and visibility from the Space Needle was a little limited. (See Photographs)
