San Francisco

San Francisco cont.

After the energetic day at the Mac show we slowed down for a trip over Richmond San Rafael Bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge heading South. On the South side we turn west to Highway 1 and stopped at the Golden Gate Recreational Area overlooking the bridge and bay.

The Golden Gate Bridge

As we approached the toll booths at the end of the bridge we realised that it was a very tight fit, perhaps we choose the wrong booth but both wing mirrors were pushed back on their mountings getting through to pay our $5. (See Video) 320x240 11.6MB

Golden Gate Recreational Area

The views from the area over the bay and out to sea were magnificent and after a short stay we headed down along the the Great Highway beside the beach for a stroll along the sands in warm sunshine before returning to photograph the bay, sunset and stay the night overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge. Wild Life

We spotted a couple of red tailed Hawks (See Video) 320x240 4.2MB as well as a prowling racoon in the evening. We decided to stay in the Park before heading South the following day.

Note

If you ever get the chance to travel on the trams up and down the hills we noticed that the brakes are a block of wood that presses down on the rails. One of the photographs show it quite well.
