San Francisco

A Diverse City

There is a lot to see and find out about this great cosmopolitan city. There is now way that two days can do this city justice. But given that we happen to be here at the same time as the Mac show, what a coincidence, then a little time has to be spent there as well.

Tuesday 10th January

We boarded the BART train at El Sorrito del Norte station with our bikes for a half hour trip into the city centre -$7.40 return. After spending time along Market Street, the cenre of the town, we headed down toward the Port and of course Pier 39 for us to meet some of our old friends laying about in the harbour. We then headed up to the infamous Lombard Street and duly cycled down it, or should I say carefully braked our way down it.

China Town

No visit to San Francisco would be complete without a visit to a unique part of the city, it is as if you were in China itself. Virtually no English is spoken and the shops are very different. We then came back down Powell Street dodging the street cars back to the financial heart. We managed to get a policeman who was on a raid to pose! (See Photographs)

Wednesday 11th January

After spending the night at El Sorito we again to the BART to the Mac Show at the Masconi Centre in the city centre.
