Monday 7th November
We set off to Glacier Park, Montana. A journey of apron 600 miles which would give us a good chance to test of everything on the rig and our readiness for the following weeks. The first thing we discovered was just how long it takes to get ready, with propane fill-ups, petrol and shopping.
We were also late starting as we had a fuse failure following a adapter breaking, which I was unable to locate and had to use the services of an RV repair facility at Spokane. After 5 minutes he had it fixed and we were on our way. We stayed the first night at Bonners Ferry behind an empty petrol station as it was to dark to find any RV Parks.
Tuesday 8th November
We found a lovely spot at Whitefish Lake. It was a right beside the lake and, we guess, used as a local weekend picnic area. Anyway it was very quiet and certainly better than behind a petrol station. We were treated to a visit from a white tailed deer in the morning.
Wednesday 9th November
On our way to Glacier National Park and we found a National Parks campground on the edge of Lake Macdonald. We parked the RV as far up the 'Going to the Sun Road' as possible and got out the bikes and set off. After two hours we reached the pinnacle of the road at the Lodge and could go no further as the road was blocked with 2 feet of snow. What views though, well worth the effort. We met nobody on the way up or down.
That night we e parked right beside the lake with stunning views over the lake to the mountains. The following morning we e drove up the valley again a took a hike up to Glacier Lake, about 1 hour, again we were on our own apart from meeting a young man clapping his hands vigorously, he had heard us coming and thought we were a bear!
Thursday 10th November
We set of mid morning heading South to Flathead Lake where we spent the night at an RV park before heading back to Spokane, tired but full of ideas and improvements we needed to make. (See Photographs)
