Eagles and Hawks

Wildlife

Whilst in Spokane we took advantage of the annual migration of Bald Eagles to Coeur d' Alene and visited Bear Creek and Beauty Bay on the lake where the Chinook Salmon dying from spawning, languish on the surface of the lake making them easy prey. There are approximately 100 Eagles at the moment who are either resident or migrants moving south, usually by the end of January.

Hawks

We saw many hawks looking for food and found one obliging one on a post close to the road.

Hawks

The photographs were taken with a 100-330 zoom with a 1.4x converter. She did remarkably well capturing a few excellent shots. (See Photographs)

It is estimated that about 1 in 18 attempts at getting a fish are succesful hence a lot of fighting between Eagles occures when one is sucessfull the following videos show this quite well. (See Video) 320x240 2.1MB (See Video) 320x240 3.2MB (See Video) 320x240 4.2MB
