Additions to the RV

Customising

Whilst most RV's are supplied with an extensive list of gadgets, not all are practical. The following is just a suggestion list that some may find usefully as a starting or reference list.

Rear Lights

Given my past experience of driving in the USA I decided to install two rear high intensity fog lights as well as an additional reversing light for parking at night especially at RV Parks where turning circles can be tight and trees abound.

Driving Lights

I found that main lights were not adequate for the road conditions that I encountered. Given that road markings are sparse and road lighting is nowhere near the same as in Europe I installed two pairs of driving and fog lights. I found difficulty in finding suitable yellow fog lamps so used driving lights and put a proprietary self adhesive yellow film on the front lens, it works great.

12 volt Power Points

I made an early decision to use AA batteries as the prime source of accessory power and as we would be using a digital camera, a video camera, computer and GPS system in was imperative that ample cigarette points were available. I therefore fitted three points on the dashboard underneath the radio and an additional one underneath the dining table to compliment the existing one already installed. This was accomplished by myself at minimal cost.

Rear Carrier

I installed a rear carrier for bikes and also to carry any additional stuff. The unit folds up when not in use and has proved a valuable and usefull asset.

Fishing Boat

I have now acquired a 14' Mirrocraft boat with trailer and 18hp Einrude outboard. Having rewired the trailer it is now fit for the road. Also it means that the rear carrier has to go but he bikes can go in the boat as well as any firewood.

LED Lighting

I have aquired som LED lighting from the UK and will fit them on me return. I am hoping that this will reduce the demands on the house batteries.
